A taste of Bavaria in Berlin

Weihenstephaner Berlin on Hackescher Markt is managed by Bavarian native Erwin Leitner and his Berlin business partner Gero Winiarski. The restaurant’s central location in Berlin Mitte, its Bavarian flair and selection of traditional cuisine make it a great attraction for Berliners and tourists from all over the world, providing them with a true taste of Bavaria in the middle of Berlin.

The vaulted cellar

Weihenstephaner Berlin is located in the oldest building in Berlin’s district of Mitte. Dating back to 1749, the house was a gift from the King of Prussia and Elector of Brandenburg, Frederick William II to the writer Anna Louisa Karsch. The building’s impressive vaulted cellar also dates from this period. Following extensive redevelopment in 2002 and 2003, the historical vaults are now open to guests at the Weihenstephaner, seating a total of 180 at Bavarian-style wooden tables.

Bräustüber´l and Brunnenzimmer

Also located in the historic vaulted cellars are the Bräustüber’l, Schlierseer Stüber´l, Brunnenzimmer, Stammtisch, Niescherl and – in accordance with the tradition in Bavarian inns and pubs – Leitner´s Stüber’l, named after the publican. These small rooms seat between five and 20 people each. Our friendly, well-trained staff serve these areas from a separate bar in the vaults to ensure quick and efficient service.

The Weihenstephaner restaurant

The ground floor of the Weihenstephaner comfortably seats 100 guests, who can sample a selection of delicious Bavarian specialities and fine beers from the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan. The ground floor bar ensures quick and efficient service.

Beer garden and courtyard

As soon as the first rays of spring sunshine chase away the winter clouds, the Weihenstephaner beer garden turns into the most popular place on Hackescher Markt. From early spring to late autumn, up to 250 people at a time gather here to savour the best of Bavarian food and drink in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Berlin’s most vibrant square. For guests who prefer a more secluded ambience, the sun shades in the historical courtyard provide pleasant shade in the heat of the day and cosy warmth until late at night. The courtyard seats a total of 80 guests at tables with traditional blue-and-white checked tablecloths.
